Church Meeting September the 16th? 1868

It is agreed that F. Morgan be appointed to assist John Evans & John Edmonds till the Church meeting before our association in college next & he is also appointed Treasurer for the management of incidental Expences of the Church (such as unclear – possibly coal??? & Candles and he is to make a public Collection on the Church & congregation on Lords day the 13 Sepr instant.

The thanksgiving meeting was held on Wed the 2nd September with good attendance.

Also the Church presented the sum of thirteen Pounds thirteen shillings & 5 ½ the proceeds of the Tea Meeting to the Pastor of this Church Wm Morgan

March 31st 1870

Special Church meeting

1. It is unanimously agreed to accept the resignation of the Pastorate of Wm Morgan over this Church and(unclear) to preach his farewell Sermon the last Sunday in April.

2. It is purposed by Rev Wm Morgan that a committee be formed by the Church for the purpose of managing the affairs of this Church and seconded by brother F. Morgan.

Church Meeting

It was suggested last Church meeting that a committee be form’d to manage the affairs of this Church by the Pastors and seconded F. Morgan which was unanimously agreed to this evening whose names are as follows. Brothers John Edmunds, Francis Morgan, Wm Humphries senior, Edward Morgan, John Walkley senior, Henry Williams, John Morgan.

2. It was agreed that brother John Edmunds be treasurer of this Church, and that F. Morgan will be a fellow deacon, and Henry Williams will keep his office as Secretary of the weekly offering and the committee: and that John Morgan be secretary of the Church and committee.

3rd Also that the Secretary will read the minutes and account of (or from) the committee every three months.

1 Proposition,

  Proposed by F. Morgan seconded by J. Edmonds that J. Walkley will be president, and H. Williams vice-president of the Committe, for the ensuing year.

That we get our Ministerial supplies from the College the first two sundays in May, and to be paid out of the monthly Collections, also for the elements, to be deducted out of the same, and the remainder for the Pastor Wm Morgan.

I was proposed by Henry Williams seconded John Edmunds that we get a testimonial, for the Pastor who has resigned his Pastorate over this Church, if approved by the Church,

2nd It was proposed by Br Francis Morgan seconded by Br John Edmunds that this Church invite to the Church at Tredegar to ask them if they are agreeable to us, should we give an invitation the their minister, the Rev Joseph Lewis to accept the Pastorate of this Church.

1st Proposition

  It was proposed by Br John Morgan that we have a tea meeting at this place which was unanimously to by the Church. Also approved by the Committee and we have the above mention party on thursday the 25day of August 1870 and the proceeds to be applied to the building fund of this place.

It was proposed by Br Fr. Morgan seconded by Br. J. Edmonds that Mrs Jones Trosnant will make the Cake and bread and that Mrs Williams New Inn will finds? tea and sugar.

That the first Sunday in August will be kept a prayer meeting as it was proposed by the Association.

1st It was approved by the members at this meeting to accept the offer from our late minister Wm Morgan that he will be here on the communion sunday, if it will be agreeable to the Church at Monmouth.

2nd That the Minister will read on communion the passages pertaining to the Sacrament or Lord’s supper.

3rd It was agreed that we have a public collection on Sunday 28th inst for the support of Pontypool College.

4th It was proposed by brother F. Morgan seconded by brother J. Edmonds that brother Henry Williams will be Secretary of the Church for the ensuing year.

5th That brother F. Morgan be Secretary of the weekly offering for the coming year.

1st It was proposed by Henry Williams, seconded by Francis Morgan and unanimously agreed that this Church give a formal invitation to Mr Tucker as a Minister in the place.

2nd it is further agreed that this Church pay him a Salary of ten Shillings per weeks Remuneration for his Service.

3rd that Mr Tucker be Ordained as Minister in this place on Wednesday 20th day of November

1st It was unanimously agreed to invite the Rev Dr Price Aberdare, to deliver a lecture in this Chapel the proceeds to be applied to defray the debt on the Chapel.

2ndly that the Student from Haverfordwest College preach here on friday evening and be paid 5/0 for his expences and to be no Collection in Consequence of the expences incurred by enlarging the Chapel

Church Meeting November 1873 the account of Enlarging this Chapel wich have now been completed and reopened on the 29th day of September when two Eloquent Sermons were preached by the Revd J. Lewis, Tredegar, morning + evening in the afternoon by the Rev W. Morgan, Usk when there were very liberal Collections in Aid of the enlarging of the Chapel the total Cost of Enlarging being £68”9”2 with the exception of the Hauling being done Gratis by the Members and friends.
