PONTYPOOL WOMAN MISSING A young woman, named Elizabeth Williams, wife of a labouring man, named Alfred Williams, living at Canal Bank, Pontypool, left her home on Monday morning, and has been missing since. Before going she prepared her husband's food, and told some neighbours that she would be back in the afternoon, but did not return. On Monday the husband received a telegram, purporting to be signed by his wife and sent from Newport, stating that she had entered the hospital at Newport. The husband travelled to Newport, and, making inquiries, failed to find that his wife had been admitted to the new hospital or the workhouse infirmary. She had been in ill-health at Pontypool. She was a native of Newport. The woman wore a black and white hat, is about 30 years of age, and was in mourning. She had been married about a year.

Research note: Could this be the Alfred Williams who married an Elizabeth - son of James Williams and Sarah (nee Davies, later Pitt) of Rose Cottage?
