At some point Thomas and Mary Jane moved to live at Clearwell, Glascoed, a smallholding on the left towards Glascoed Baptist Chapel. This was Tom Parry junior’s address at the time of his death in WW1 in 1916. Clearwell is shown as No.9 on the Llanbaddock census of 1901, neighbouring No.8, Glen View. However, the 1891 Llanbaddock census shows neither of these addresses, No. 8 is Nine Wells, next to two uninhabited cottages. Interestingly, Annie Mary Parry referred to Clearwell /Nine wells to describe where her granny Parry lived.

Mary Jane died about 1940, it was at this time that the area around Clearwell Cottage would have been purchased as part of the ROF.


Thomas Parry’s cousin was Lord Mayor of Cardiff in the early 1900’s

Thomas’s brother James Parry, known as Jim Parry had another daughter Elizabeth Parry, she married Alfred Williams, they lived at Glen View, the parents of Emily Williams who married Fred and lives at Trostra Farm today.
