Tom Benjamin Rees

Tom was the son of Benjamin and Catherine Rees.

He was born in Glascoed on July 5th 1874 and was baptised at Monkswood parish church on 13th September 1874.

The family had to move away from Glascoed by 1879, since the farm had to be sold to pay death duties for a family member who was in Australia, according to family folklore. The family moved to Bootle by 1881, via Gloucester. Tom was working in Bootle at the time of the 1891 census, although his occupation is one of those that is difficult to decipher from the enumerators handwriting and infuriating crosses! His occupation appears to be “Saw maker”.
