The Last Will & Testament of Roger Williams, farmer of Beech Farm, Glascoed, Mon.

  This is the last Will & Testament of me Roger Williams of the hamlet of Glascoed in the County of Monmouth, farmer, I give and bequeath to my wife Anne Williams for her life the use benefit rents profits and proceeds of all the property that I may die ((possessed?)) of and after her decease I dispose of such property as follows (that is to say I give and devise my messuage or dwelling ouse and premises situate at Pontnewynydd in the parish of Trevethin in the said County to my son James Williams his heirs and assigns for ever I give and devise my two freehold meadows situate in the said hamlet of Glascoed to my three sons Philip WilliamsWilliam Williams and Henry Williams, their heirs and assigns for ever in equal shares and proportions as tenants in common and not as joint tenants I give and bequeath the house land and premises situate in the said hamlet which I hold by lease for lives under His Grace the Duke of Beaufort to my daughter Elizabeth the wife of Richard Arnold for all my estate and interest therein I give my farming stock and household furniture and all the rest of my personal estate of what nature or kind soever to my said three sons PhilipWilliam and Henry in equal shares subject to the payment thereout at the expiration of twelve months after the decease of my said wife of the three several sums following (that is to say seventy pounds to my son John, fourty pounds to my daughter Mary Anne the wife of James Lewis and Thirty pounds to the said Elizabeth Arnold. I appoint my said son Philip sole Executor of this my Will Dated this twenty second day of May, one thousand eight hundred and sixty seven____________________________________________________________

Signed and published by the said Testator Roger Williams as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who were present at the same time and who at his request in his presence and in presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses the Will having been first read over and explained to the said Testator who seemed perfectly to understand the contents and made his mark thereunto in our presence______ William H. Jenkins, Trostra House, Glascoed______ A. Waddington, attorney, Usk, Monmouthshire_______________________________

 Proved at Llandaff on the twenty second day of February 1873 by the oath of Philip Williams, the son, the Sole Executor to whom Adminstration was granted.

 The testator Roger Williams was late of the hamlet of Glascoed in the County of Monmouth, farmer, and died on the Eleventh day of March 1872 at the hamlet of Glascoed aforesaid_____________________________________________________
