The Wilmot families

Three Wilmot branches came to Glascoed, to my knowledge. I was provided with a Bio on Elizabeth Handley Wilmot by her descendant, Les Wilmot which I have reproduced on her page. Many thanks to Les.

Elizabeth Handley Wilmot (c.1815-1892) married James Jenkins of Upper Trostrey in 1847. See her Bio page for more detail.

A Joseph Wilmott (born around 1833 in Herefordshire) was at Glascoed Vach (English translation is “Little Glascoed”), working as a Carter at the time of the 1861 census.

The other Wilmot family consists of Thomas Wilmot who married a Glascoed native, Alice Bryan of daughter of James Bryan and Eliza (nee Parry). Alice had been brought up at Three Yew Trees. After their marriage, Thomas Wilmot and Alice lived at Ashford Cottage. They were certainly there at the time of the 1891 census. Thomas died in 1900, although his genes and memory lived on through their two daughters, Florence May (c 1891/2) and Emily Ann Wilmot (1893). Alice remarried William Charles Pardoe in 1903. They stayed in Glascoed for a period and had two children, but William died in 1910. Poor Alice! She had moved to Monkswood by the 1911 census, to live with her parents.
