General:
Now, with regard to things Glascoedian, my grandfather Frank Stratton who was abandoned by his father Thomas before the age of 2, was brought up by his maternal grandparents, the Morgans, who lived in Prescoed. I have delved into the Morgan ancestry quite a bit and visited the house (No 2 Cottage, Prescoed) where Granddad was brought up in the 1880s. Although his own Granddad Francis Morgan died in 1876, he was quite a colourful character and a stalwart of Mount Zion Chapel. In fact, he and his second wife are buried there (missing from your Inscription list). I've enclosed a picture of their headstone and one of your Pitt one, which is a bit closer.
The Morgans were quite an established family living in the area for quite a few generations and the Granddaughters of Francis were living at No 2 Cottage until they died a few years ago. I spoke to one of them on the phone. The place has now been modernised and is quite a 'des res'. Apparently the present owner was disappointed that they had to get rid of the spiral staircase because it was rotten. 29
