Notes
Research:
I had details that Frederick had died in 1931 from my Aunty "Bob's" (Ellen Maude Jenkins) family tree, handed down the family after she died.
At first I queried this since his wife Clara appears to have survived him and re-married in 1918, as a "widow".
They must either have divorced at some point after 1901 (unlikely since this was very difficult to achieve in those days) or she must have re-married, claiming Frederick to have died.
They did not appear on any censuses together so at some point from the conception of their final child (possibly Frances Maud Watson) they must have decided to live separately. That's the only reasonable conclusion I can reach.
I checked deaths of Francis W Watsons born between 1860 and 1871.
BIRTHS
Our Francis W Watson's birth was registered in Birmingham in the September Quarter 1870.
The others were:
1. Registered in Dunmow (Essex) in December Quarter 1870.
2. Registered in Warwick in March Quarter 1871.
3. Registered in Luton in June Quarter 1871.
I know from the 1911 Census that there was a Francis Watson ("Single") living as a Boarder in Coventry, a Cycle worker - the same occupation that Francis had for the baptism of his daughter Frances in 1899. Also a Francis W Watson who died in Coventry in the April-June Quarter 1931. This must have been him.
DEATHS OF OTHERS
1. There was a death of a Francis W Watson of the right age (69) whose death was registered in Dunmow in March Quarter 1940.
2. There was a Francis W Watson registered as having died at Warwick in Sep Q 1938 aged 66.
3. I couldn't find a Francis W Watson dying in Luton - he may have moved.
But taking Aunty Bob's family tree into account, along with the census entry for a cycle worker in 1911 and the above facts, I conclude that it is very likely that our Francis William indeed died in 1931, 18 years after his wife married somebody else. 2810,2811,2812

Notes
General:
William was born in 1821, the son of William Watson and Eliza Watson (nee Parton). His father was a gold watch handmaker and he had a premises at 63 Moor Street, Birmingham. William Senior and Elizabeth were, I get the impression, very much the matriarch and patriarch of the family.
William married Mary Ann Linforth at Handsworth in 1841, and was working as a Spoonmaker by the time of the 1841 census.
They were at Clerkenwell for a period, where their son, William Henry Watson was born. I cannot find a trace of him as a registered birth at Clerkenwell, although there is a baptismal record.
At the 1851 census, we find William and Mary Ann living at 381 Farm Street, Hockley, Birmingham, as the landlords of the Castle Inn - the street where their future daughter in law was also living (Mary Ann Lichfield) with her family. Her father Charles was a Pork Butcher - I wonder whether Charles provided meat for William and Mary Ann's business? Although I don't know whether they catered at all at the Beer house for guests or the public.
1842 Sept 11. Born 22 Aug 1842. William Henry, son of William & Mary Ann Watson of Bowling Green Lane. Silversmith. (Ceremony performed by T. Ray).
