IGI transcription of 1881 census lists Berthia's husband as Joseph. Since I cannot find a Berthia Parker marrying a Joseph Smith on marriage indexes for this period, I assume that this is a transcription error, probably "Thos" being read as "Jos"

Thomas married Berthia Parker, daughter of Thomas Parker and Jane Williams, on 10 Aug 1873 in Trevethin Parish Church, Pontypool, Monmouthshire. (Berthia Parker was born in 1849 in Llanishen, Monmouthshire and was christened on 3 Dec 1849 in Llanishen Parish church, Llanishen, Monmouthshire ¹.)

Thomas next married (Smith) before 1873. ((Smith) died before 1873.)
