BIOGRAPHY
Eliza Evans was the sister of Cornelius Evans, who, together with his wife, came to farm at Glascoed Fach sometime between 1879 and 1881.
Eliza was born in Llandenny in 1825 and was baptised at Llandenny Parish Church on 6th March 1825.
She married John Edward Williams on 20th May 1847 at Usk Baptist Chapel.
Eliza and John initially lived at Upper Wernhir, Llanbaddock. Whilst living at Upper Wernhir, they were closely involved with Mount Zion Baptist Chapel.
The family moved to Steppes Farm, Gwernesney, probably in late 1851 and, in 1873, moved to Ty Poeth Farm, Llanfihangel Pontymoile.
Eliza’s husband John Edward Williams died on 17th May 1896 at Ty Poeth, aged 71.
Eliza’s time as a Widow was relatively short, since she too died at the family farm within a couple of years on 18th March 1898.
