Research Notes: 1881 census, he is listed as Thomas and Ann Davies' son, with the surname Davies. Medical Notes: Thomas left home as a very young man after a row (the informant Evelyn Fairall had been told this by her mother) and "thought it had been his father's funeral but perhaps it was his mother's. He did go back and he and his sons William and James worked in the mines they lived at Markham and my Grandmother (Unity Devine) died there in April 1928 . . . Thomas was I believe rather a hot headed man did not like bosses, and I only found out from a cousins wife my Aunt had told him he only returned to Wales as he was in trouble for being involved in the Unions in Woolwich. Noted events in his life were: • Census: 1871, 2 Apr 1871, Gwaunyrallt, Hengoed, Gelligaer, Glamorgan. 3 • Occupation: Pupil teacher, 1881, Glamorgan, Wales. • Census: 1881, 3 Apr 1881, Gwaunyrallt, Hengoed, Gelligaer, Glamorgan. • Occupation: Officer of Inland Revenue, 1891. • Census: 1891, 5 Apr 1891, 1 Park Street, Cambridge (St. Andrew's District), Cambridgeshire. • Occupation: Labourer at Woolwich Arsenal, 1901. 4 • Census: 1901, 31 Mar 1901, 371 Woolwich Road, Charlton, London. 5 • Occupation: Storeman at the Army Ordnance Department, 1911, Woolwich, Kent. • Census: 1911, 2 Apr 1911, 71 Ceres Road, Plumstead, London. • Occupation: Coal miner, Cir 1925, Markham, Monmouthshire. 6 Thomas married Unity Jane Devine, daughter of James Devine and Elizabeth (Devine), on 10 Jun 1894 in Thanet Registration district, Kent.1 (Unity Jane Devine was born on 8 Jul 1869 in Whitstable, Kent,7 died on 10 Apr 1928 in 18 Bryn Road, Markham, Monmouthshire 2 and was buried in Apr 1928 in Bedwellty Church, Monmouthshire 2.)
