Notes from Robert Parry - Hilda's grandson.
"The birth certificate of Hilda May Harris, nee Harris, b 28th May 1890 @ Undy, does not quote a father, but (sic) "Rosanna Harris, a dressmaker" as her mother.
The 1891 welsh census shows (sic) "Hilda M Harris" aged 10mths, declared incorrectly as the d/o Henry & Susan (Susannah) Harris - this was a lie to conceal her illegitimacy at the time.
The 1901 welsh census shows (sic) "Hilda Harris" aged 10, correctly as the grand d/o Henry & Susan Harris.
The 1911 welsh census shows (sic) "Hilda May Warder" aged 21 - correct age with incorrectly stating her "sister" "Susannah Maud Hickman" aged 11, who was in fact her step sister.
It should be noted that my Gran, Hilda Warder, was brought up by her grandparents, Henry & Susan Harris and not by her mother. Hilda had a close relationship with her aunt, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Harris who later on in her last few months of life was seriously ill but was taken in and cared for by Hilda, subsequently Aunt Lizzie died at "The Moorlands" Undy in 1933. Additionally Rosanna had another illegitimate child, William Harold Harris, b 1895 @ Undy, m 1943 @ Undy, d 1956 & buried at Colwall, Herefordshire; but William (known as "Eck" and was not the full quid) was brought up by Rosanna - see 1901 welsh census."
